Monday It felt different Something had changed David His face, his voice, his body Were signs I should have gauged His hands and feet were freezing cold Warm socks, warm blanket, warm bottle I didn’t want to be too long I felt the need to stay Each time I asked Are you okay That smile That nod But different that day An extra hug, an extra kiss Reassurance stayed at bay The day crept by As David slept I checked and checked Over again Then Oh, how I wish I could be certain You heard me call out loud David I love you, I love you, I love you Knee to knee, toe to toe I held your hands and kissed them Oh, if only I could be certain.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
